Ekphattana Deposit-Taking Microfinance Institution has brought pride to Laos on the international stage by winning an award at the 2025 Outstanding Film Awards and Celebration (Sinemaya 2025), held from 13–16 December 2025 in San Pablo City, Laguna Province, Philippines.
In this year’s film competition, Ekphattana submitted a short film titled “Hope in the Rain”, which was entered for awards and successfully won the Outstanding Award for Community Development in the Agricultural Sector. This achievement affirms the organization’s strong commitment to supporting and improving the livelihoods of Lao farmers.
The main objectives of this ASEAN-level competition include:
Storytelling: Encouraging organizations to present their work and achievements through film, enabling economic and social development efforts to be seen through tangible, real-world impacts.
Going International: Providing an important opportunity to showcase Laos’s social innovation stories to a global audience.
Knowledge Exchange: Serving as a learning and experience-sharing platform among filmmakers and development organizations from various countries, with the aim of applying these lessons to future organizational development.
This success is not only a source of pride for Ekphattana Deposit-Taking Microfinance Institution, but also demonstrates that microfinance and agricultural development efforts in Laos carry powerful, inspiring stories that can resonate and shine confidently on the international stage.
