What the team set out to apply
- Responsible lending. Guided by fairness, accountability, honesty and responsibility in daily operations.
- Transparency. A culture of transparency so clients can trust microfinance institutions (MFIs) and their products and services, and can make informed financial decisions.
- Fair competition. Standards of behavior and good practice among microfinance institutions that protect both clients and staff.
- International standards. Recognizing international standards in responsible microfinance through a Code of Conduct adapted to the Lao context and the sector’s current progress and challenges.
- Supporting regulation. Supporting the financial inclusion action plans, consumer protection regulations and related laws, in line with the Code of Conduct and its ethical standards.
